E-Learning

Having access to a quality mobile learning device allows your child to complete coursework, home learning and revision activities both at school and at home. Many subjects encourage the use of virtual learning environments like Bedrock Learning in English and Hegarty Maths.

E-Learning Scheme

Our E-Learning scheme allows students to receive a high quality Chromebook and parents agree regular contributional payments. At the end of the contributions ownership of the Chromebook transfers to the parents. Students who receive funding through Pupil Premium can take advantage of a reduced contributions. The Chromebook comes with a protective cover and the management of the device is controlled by our technicians.

Parents and the students are asked to sign the acceptable use agreement and provide appropriate bank details for the standing order mandate. We also ask that the person who makes the payment also signs the gift aid document. This allows us to reclaim considerable tax from the government at no extra cost to the contributor.

Here are just a few of the benefits of a school Chromebook

Bring Your Own Device

If you already have your own device, this scheme allows you to bring it into school to use in a similar way as the e-learning scheme.

To sign up to the Bring Your Own Device scheme you must visit the technicians office and pick up the BYOD forms.  Fill them in and return them completed so we can add your device to the system

In order for us to help you connect to the college network there are certain details we will need about your device, namely its MAC address.  If you don't know how to find this information about your device you can ask the ICT technicians.

We strongly urge you to bring your device in a protective case or bag.  Normal backpacks and school bags are not usually designed to store them and they can be easily damaged bouncing around in one.

We recommend you charge up at home and bring it in fully charged.  Remember to never leave your device unattended and if you make use of a school locker, always keep it locked when you store it inside.

Remember...

  • Your device is your own responsibility

  • You must password protect your device

  • Do not tell anyone your password

  • You are only allowed one device on the network

  • Inappropriate use can result in confiscation of your device

  • Internet usage is tracked in school

  • Only use your device in lesson as directed by the teacher

  • device cameras are not permitted to be used in school

  • your device must have antivirus software installed and up-to-date
